Perfume Bottle La Photographie

Bottle of perfume backlit by a strobe soft box on reflected black acrylic. The acrylic reflected the white flash, giving this a seamless white background. Used a second strobe to slightly light the front side of the bottle.

Lipstick Product Shot

A product shot of some lipstick. The product was on reflective black acrylic sheet, with a blue gel strobe bounced off of a dark backdrop, onto the acrylic. Two soft box strobes were used to light the product. My first attempt at anything like this, and I am excited to start incorporating color gels into my shoots.

Crystal Glass in High Key

A high key shot of a crystal glass. This was shot in front of a soft box to provide the back light necessary to create the minimalist image showing the intricate detail of the designs in the glass itself.

Liquor Bottle with Rim Light

A shot of a bottle (with logos removed and manipulated to not step on any commercial copyright toes) of liquor to test out some rim lighting techniques. 2 separate photos: One soft box light with blocker to light only the edge of the bottle. Another light from the front to capture the label, which was brought in via Photoshop. The red circle was created in Photoshop as I did not yet have any gel lights to create the effect.

The Underlying Reality

Two shot photo manipulation: one of the glass and food dye in the studio, the other of a wildflower shot outdoors in early spring. Brought together and blended in Photoshop.

Vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster

Studio photo of a Vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster Chrome Black Bakelite 12 Speed Stand Mixer, which appears to be original from the 1950's or early 60's. As you can expect, it was covered with dings, dents and scratches, which made for a difficult retouching session in Photoshop. A really fun shoot though, as playing with the lighting produced many different looks. Two soft box continuous lighting with two mini LED lights to highlight specific areas. I wanted to highlight the model name within some reflected light. They do not make them like they used to as this thing is fully functional.

Terribly Mysterious

Studio shot of a leather bound book, medalion, table lamp and a jar of something. Three lights used to achieve this shot. Hid a few subtle images of my own to enhance the mood.

Snowy Day at the Old Cottage

Fresh snow covers the grounds of an old cottage and the main house, under a blue sky. This is a property I used to rent, and it was a beautfiul place.

Retouch of an Industrial Testing Lab

This was done for a packaging company to showcase their in house testing lab. I cleaned it up quite a bit, but I did not want to lose that 'used' feel as many of the machines used to test are heavy duty, and the tests themselves are fairly punishing.

Classic Car Close Up

A close up of a classic car headlight reveals the streamlined beauty of the older models. This was a Chevy but I did not catch the model or year. Cloned some pieces of the front end out of the lower part of the frame to give it an abstract look.

View of Lower Manhattan as seen from Governor's Island on a sunny summer day. This creates a real 'City of the Future' type feel with the green landscape of the island in the foreground of a beautiful New York skyline. Governor's Island was more of a unique place to visit than I thought it would be, with the view of Manhattan's towering buildings, not to mention Freedom Tower featured prominently from nearly every view from the island.

A close up of a classic Packard car, which I believe was a 1955 Packard 400. It was a beautiful automobile, and this one was in stunning condition.
